Cavnue’s Flagship Project

The Michigan CAV Corridor will be a 39-mile segment of Interstate 94 (I-94) between Ann Arbor and Detroit, aimed at advancing the future of mobility. In August 2020, the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) selected Cavnue as the Master Developer to lead this initiative, making it the first of its kind in the nation.

The project began with a three-mile initial deployment, completed in May 2024, to evaluate smart road capabilities and inform future expansion. Designed to support personal vehicles, public transit, and freight, the corridor lays the foundation for broader transportation advancements in Southeast Michigan, accelerating the integration of connected and automated vehicle technology.

By leveraging Cavnue’s technology, the I-94 initial deployment integrates advanced sensors and cameras to track real-time road conditions, wireless communication systems for seamless data transfer, and a digital twin that delivers a dynamic, detailed view of roadway operations. These innovations enhance safety and efficiency for both automated and existing vehicles.
