Software Engineer - Infrastructure, Tools, Visualization

One of our US-based offices - Bay Area / Detroit / DC

At Cavnue, we’re building infrastructure, and we’re building infrastructure. With our infrastructure and tools team, you’ll take years of experience working with in-memory databases, application architectures, and push-to-production pipelines and apply them to real-world problems in maintaining and operating city streets, connected highways, suburban boulevards and everywhere in-between. You’ll help tell stories with data to transportation officials, technology companies, and everyday travelers. You’ll dazzle civil engineering partners and hardware engineers by coming up with new frameworks for deployment, and you’ll build fail-safe systems that logistics companies will love. You’ll change the meaning of application delivery and package delivery.


Responsibilities:

  • Designing and implementing scalable, reliable, and secure platform systems

  • Creating data patterns and data systems for near-real time execution, offline analytics, and machine learning training

  • Enabling data storytelling with visualization frameworks that allow analysts and advocates to understand operational complexity

  • Architecting products that next-generation road maintenance, traffic operations, and tolling

  • Establishing DevOps norms and tools

  • Extending product availability to complex, multi-tenant domains via modern messaging systems

  • Working closely with Product and Business Development teams to create solutions that don’t just meet the user requirements of today, but help to create new understanding to design the systems of tomorrow

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (or related field)

  • ~6+ years of related work experience.

  • Deep familiarity with Apache Software Foundation Projects and roadmaps

  • Applied understanding of cloud orchestration, serverless deployments, and the CI-CD lifecycle

  • Strong perspective on how to do DevOps right

  • Experience in building highly scalable enterprise web applications

  • A demonstrable track record of building responsive and intuitive data visualizations using frameworks such as Kepler or BigQuery

  • Experience in the autonomous vehicle or robotics industry, and experience building SaaS products is a plus.

  • Experience with multiple cloud providers service offerings and pros and cons of each (AWS, GCP, Azure)
